Pharma field force management software in Pakistan: what to look for
A practical checklist for Pakistani pharma companies choosing field force (MR reporting) software: attendance, doctor calls, distributor sales, CSR approvals and accounts.
Most pharma companies in Pakistan still manage their field force with WhatsApp groups, Excel sheets and phone calls. It works when the team is small. Once you have reps across several cities, managers lose sight of who visited which doctor, sales data arrives weeks late, and approvals get lost in chats.
Field force management software, often called MR reporting software, fixes this by putting attendance, doctor visits, sales and approvals in one system. Here is what to check before you choose one.
1. Attendance that proves where the rep is
Look for GPS check-in with geofencing, so attendance only counts inside the right area. The system should follow your own time windows, for example a 9:30–9:45 check-in with late marking after that, and a later start on outstation days.
2. Doctor call reporting that works offline
Reps often work where mobile signal is weak. The app should save each doctor call on the phone and sync it automatically when signal returns. Each call should record the doctor, the products detailed and the time.
3. Doctor lists (MCL) with approval
New doctors should go through manager approval, with speciality, area and brick filled in. This keeps the master call list clean and stops duplicate or fake entries.
4. Distributor sales and targets in one place
Distributor sales usually arrive as files in many different formats. Good software imports these files, matches products and chemists automatically, and shows targets vs achievement by rep, area, zone and region without manual Excel work.
5. CSR and marketing approvals with a trail
CSR requests should move from rep to manager to head office inside the system, with every step logged. Spend can then be compared with the sales that followed, so you can see return on investment per doctor.
6. HR and accounts connected to the field
Leave, salary increments, fuel cards and expense statements belong in the same system. When field spend posts to the general ledger, the trial balance and P&L reflect what really happened in the field.
7. Your data kept separate and secure
If the software is shared by several companies, each company's data must be fully separate, with every user seeing only what their role allows.
8. Local support
Training for reps, data import from your existing sheets, and support on WhatsApp in Urdu and English make the difference between software that is bought and software that is used.
